The Abyss is an endgame story mission in Star Trek Fleet Command in which you trap an assimilated ship and follow it to a Borg Cube. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but it needs warp 185 to finish and its final fight is a Borg Cube at roughly 15,600,929 strength. Only a top-end ship will get through it. The reward is six each of 4★ Epic Refined Crystal, Gas and Ore.

The Abyss objectives

There are five objectives and no choice split:

  • Find an assimilated ship. Location: Vehla.
  • Defeat 10 hostiles of Level 49 or higher.
  • Follow the assimilated ship. Location: Beta Sector.
  • Attack the Borg Cube. Location: Beta Sector. Enemy strength is roughly 15,600,929.
  • Return to your Station.

The mission opens in Vehla, a level 48 neutral system, where you find the assimilated ship. Before you can follow it, you need 10 kills against hostiles of level 49 or higher; no system is named for that step. The trail then leads to Beta Sector, a level 50 neutral system, where the Borg Cube waits. Once it is beaten, you head home.

Where and what warp

The mission can be picked up at warp 1, but completing it needs warp 185. That range is the first barrier, since it takes a well-developed ship to cover it.

The listed recommended level of 1 is not a useful guide. Warp 185, the level 49 hostile requirement and a Borg Cube above fifteen million strength are the real bar.

The Abyss rewards

Reward Amount
4★ Epic Refined Crystal 6
4★ Epic Refined Gas 6
4★ Epic Refined Ore 6

Completing The Abyss unlocks Catalyst Part 1.

How it follows The Price We Pay

The Abyss continues directly from The Price We Pay, where you first try to track the assimilated ship. Current game data for the two:

Mission Warp to complete Fights Rewards
The Price We Pay 185 Hostile ship in Klos, about 13,435,832 120 4★ Uncommon Interceptor Parts
The Abyss 185 10 hostiles of level 49+, then the Borg Cube in Beta Sector, about 15,600,929 6 each of 4★ Epic Refined Crystal, Gas and Ore

Both missions share the warp 185 requirement, and The Abyss steps the final fight up by a little over two million strength. If your ship only just beat the hostile ship in Klos, give it time before taking on the Cube.

Tips

Clear the 10 hostiles first and repair. The level 49 kills come before the Borg Cube, and if you use the same ship for both, you want it at full health for the fight that matters.

Do not send a half-built ship. Enemy strength near 15.6 million is endgame territory. A ship that loses to the Cube costs you repair time and the trip back out at warp 185.

The epic refined resources are the reason to run it, so it is worth finishing once your fleet can handle the Cube. Other missions sorted by level are on the mission guide.
