Die Recon Locus is a late-game station building in Star Trek Fleet Command that speeds up your construction and research while shielding your fleet from Hyperthermic Decay. It unlocks once your Operations building hits level 45 and upgrades all the way to level 70. At level 51 it also hands you the Orion Syndicate Bomb Prototype Tech for free. If you have pushed past Operations 45 and are working through endgame content, it earns a spot on your upgrade list.
What the Recon Locus does
The Recon Locus monitors new intel, clandestine tech, and secret projects to keep your station current. What that means at the console is four active buffs that scale up every level, plus a one-time tech unlock partway through its range. All four buffs are live from level 1 and keep climbing to level 70.
The two you will feel most are Building Speed and Research Speed, which cut the wait on station modules and research the higher you take the building. Ship Construction Speed trims drydock build times, and the Hyperthermic Stabilizer reduces the Hyperthermic Decay your ships take from Aggregation hostiles.
| Buff | Active from | Level 1 | Stufe 35 | Level 70 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Building Speed | Level 1 | 1% | 85% | 625% |
| Research Speed | Level 1 | 1% | 100% | 750% |
| Ship Construction Speed | Level 1 | 1% | 35% | 200% |
| Hyperthermic Stabilizer | Level 1 | 1% | 20% | 325% |
Separately, reaching level 51 unlocks the Orion Syndicate Bomb Prototype Tech at no cost, a one-time reward rather than a scaling percentage.
How to unlock the Recon Locus
The Recon Locus becomes available when your Operations building reaches level 45. Placing the level 1 building costs 1 Recon Locus Key and 800 Parsteel, and the first construction finishes in about 35 seconds. From there, every upgrade needs Recon Locus Schematics on top of the resource cost, so your supply of schematics tends to set the pace more than raw Parsteel does at first.
Upgrade costs and build times
Costs and timers climb steeply, especially past level 40. Here are milestone levels across the full range (values are current as of the latest game data):
| Ebene | Kosten | Build time | Requires |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 Recon Locus Key, 800 Parsteel | 35s | Betrieb 45 |
| 10 | 7,000 Parsteel, 26 Schematics | 1h 50m | Betrieb 45 |
| 20 | 144,500 Parsteel, 41 Schematics | 1d 5h | Betrieb 45 |
| 30 | 13.26M Parsteel, 63 Schematics | 3d 1h | Betrieb 45 |
| 40 | 2.866B Parsteel, 94 Schematics | 48d 11h | Betrieb 45 |
| 45 | 13.26B Parsteel, 110 Schematics | 155d 11h | Betrieb 45 |
| 50 | 125B Parsteel, 130 Schematics | 830d 2h | Operations 50 |
| 60 | 40.19T Parsteel, 2,400 Schematics | 1,748d 22h | Operations 60 |
| 65 | 4,400 Schematics, 6.015M Σ-Parsteel | 134d 9h | Operations 65 |
| 70 | 6,000 Schematics, 26.97M Σ-Parsteel | 538d 4h | Operations 70 |
Every cost above is for the Recon Locus Schematics the game lists for that level. Taking the building from level 1 to 70 costs 1 Recon Locus Key, about 114.2 trillion Parsteel, 60,569 Recon Locus Schematics, and 88.39 million Σ-Parsteel in total. The cumulative build time comes to roughly 18,808 days unboosted, so construction speedups and boosts matter here far more than on a low-level building.
How the Recon Locus fits your station
Because two of its buffs are Building Speed and Research Speed, the Recon Locus pays part of its own way: the faster it makes your construction, the faster you finish its own upgrades and everything else in your queue. That compounding effect is the main reason to keep it moving once it is placed. Levels above 50 shift the requirement to Operations 50, 55, 60, 65, and 70 in turn, so the building’s ceiling tracks your Operations level rather than running ahead of it.
Two practical gates shape the climb. Recon Locus Schematics are needed at every level, and the highest levels demand Σ-Parsteel, the endgame refined resource. Both mark this as a long-haul project you chip away at, not something you rush in a weekend. If you fight Aggregation hostiles, the Hyperthermic Stabilizer is a real bonus on top of the speed buffs, since it blunts the Hyperthermic Decay those enemies apply.
Is the Recon Locus worth upgrading?
Yes, for the right account. The Building and Research Speed buffs help every player past Operations 45, and they grow large enough by the higher levels to noticeably shorten long queues. The level 51 free tech unlock is a clean bonus. Just treat the top levels as an endgame commitment: the Σ-Parsteel costs and multi-thousand schematic demands mean the last stretch belongs to well-established stations, not newer ones.
