D4 Class Interceptor Ship

The D4 Class is the Klingon faction’s grade 3 Epic Interceptor, a small kinetic attacker that unlocks at Shipyard level 34. It ramps its own weapon damage the longer an enemy carries a Hull Breach, and it can cloak, so it works as a fast pressure ship and an early way to move unseen. For a grade 3 hull it hits hard, but it stays a mid-game stepping stone rather than an endgame ship.

How to get the D4 Class

The D4 Class needs 150 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 34 to build. Once you can lay it down, the base build cost is 7,500,000 Tritanium, 250,000 Dilithium, 8,250 3★ Common Refined Crystal, and 1,375 3★ Common Refined Gas, with a base build time of 34 days 12 hours. Those are base figures; your research and buildings lower the time and can change the cost.

Where the blueprints come from rotates with in-game events and stores, so check the current offers rather than counting on one fixed source.

D4 Class ability

The ship ability, Relentless Hunting, is always active. As long as the target has a Hull Breach, the D4 adds 1% Weapon Damage every round, and the bonus stacks as the fight goes on. The size of that per-round step grows with ship level, from 1% at level 1 up to 25% at level 45.

In play the D4 rewards longer fights against a target you can keep breached: the damage climbs each round, so anything that inflicts or holds a Hull Breach early switches the ability on sooner and lets it snowball.

D4 Class active abilities

On top of the always-on ability, the D4 carries two player-triggered ones. Ship Cloaking hides the ship until the cloak duration runs out or you enter combat, start mining, or dock at a station, which makes the D4 a cheap way to travel unseen or sit hidden. Direct Hit increases all of the ship’s Penetration stats against players by 300% when you fire it, a burst tool for player-versus-player attacks. Both are enabled through refits (below), and you trigger them on a cooldown that eases as the ship tiers up.

Stats and tiers

Base values from the current game data; research, buffs and officers raise them in play.

Tier Warp (speed / range) Impulse Cargo (protected) Shield HP Hull HP Health (displayed)
Tier 1 3 / 40 115 16,000 (300) 67,214 84,105 75,660
Tier 5 3.4 / 56 115 33,630 (380) 67,214 84,105 75,660
Tier 9 3.8 / 75 115 84,000 (600) 67,214 84,105 75,660

Weapons and firing pattern

Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires; cool-down is how many rounds pass between shots after that. The values below are at max tier 9.

Weapon Type Shots Warm-up Cool-down Damage Crit chance Crit damage
Weapon 1 Kinetic 2 1 2 35,242–42,290 15% 135%
Weapon 2 Kinetic 2 2 2 35,242–42,290 15% 135%

Both guns are kinetic cannons, so the D4’s whole offense is kinetic. That lines up with Relentless Hunting, which stacks Weapon Damage on both of them.

Crew slots and officer bonus

The D4 opens officer slots as it levels, reaching a full seven at level 45.

Ship level Officer slots
5 1
10 2
20 3
30 4
35 5
40 6
45 7

The ship also raises your officers’ own stats as it progresses, stepping up a shared ladder. Attack, defense and health all use the same values, so one column covers all three.

Amount Bonus

600 60%
975 90%
1,350 120%
1,800 150%

4,500 240%
6,000 270%
9,000 300%

D4 Class refits

Refits unlock extra behavior on the D4, most of them costing shards to activate.

Refit What it does
D4 Cloaking Enables cloaking for the D4. Costs 120 shards.
D4 Direct Hit Unlocks the Direct Hit ability. Needs a level 34 Armory and 120 shards.
D4 Class Refit The ship’s standard refit. Costs 120 shards.
Hijacked TOS D4 Class Unlocks the hijacked refit skin. Costs 60 shards.
Ascend Key 2 Unlocks the potential to upgrade your station to level 51.

The game also offers a TOS D7 skin for the D4 that adds weapon damage against hostiles, worth activating if you keep the ship around for grinding.

Crew for the D4 Class

The D4 is a kinetic Interceptor whose damage climbs while the enemy holds a Hull Breach, so you want a bridge that either boosts weapon or kinetic damage or reliably inflicts a Hull Breach to switch Relentless Hunting on early. As an Interceptor it counters Explorers in the hull triangle, so it earns its keep pointed at Explorer targets and player Interceptors.

Because the best officers move with the meta, check our Officer Tier List for current picks. Crews shift as new officers arrive, so treat any single lineup as a starting point.

The D4 Class in Star Trek

The D4 is one of the lesser-seen Klingon cruiser designs and gets little dedicated screen time in Star Trek, so the game supplies its story. In-universe it is a small, fast fighter used to intercept and destroy enemies, doubling as a troop carrier for infiltration and extraction missions, with squadrons patrolling the surface of Qo’noS as an elite home-defense force. Read it as a Klingon workhorse rather than a hero ship tied to one episode.

Is the D4 Class worth it?

For its grade 3 band the D4 is a strong kinetic hitter and a cheap way to unlock cloaking early, which makes it handy for scouting and quick player hits. It does not stay competitive into the higher grades, and it becomes scrappable once your Operations reaches level 50, so most players run it as a capable mid-game Interceptor and later feed it to the Scrapyard. Chase it if you want Klingon kinetic pressure or an early cloak.
