Valdore Explorer Ship

The Valdore is a grade 4 Uncommon Romulan Explorer that unlocks at Shipyard level 42. It is built for speed and defense rather than raw firepower: its Phalanx ability raises the shield deflection, armor and dodge of your whole fleet while defending, and it can equip a cloak. Treat it as a defensive support hull for station and territory fights, not a front-line damage dealer.

How to get the Valdore

The Valdore needs 150 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 42, plus its associated construction research, before you can build it. Once those are in place, the build cost is:

  • 25,000,000 Tritanium
  • 1,600,000 Dilithium
  • 7,000 4★ Common Refined Gas
  • 2,450 4★ Common Refined Ore

Construction takes 150 days at base speed, which ship-build research and speedups bring down. The game data does not tie the blueprints to a specific event or store, so plan on collecting 150 of them wherever they currently show up rather than counting on one fixed source.

Valdore ability

The Valdore’s ship ability is Phalanx. When the Valdore is defending, at the start of each round it increases the Shield Deflection, Armor and Dodge of all your ships and defense platforms. That bonus starts at 30% at level 1 and climbs to 150% at level 60. Ship abilities are always active, so there is nothing to trigger.

In play, Phalanx makes the Valdore a defensive anchor. Sit it in a defending fleet or at a station under attack and every friendly ship soaks more damage through higher mitigation, with the bonus reapplying each round the fight runs.

Valdore active abilities

Beyond the always-on Phalanx, the Valdore can use player-triggered abilities once you unlock them through refits. Ship Cloaking hides the ship until the cloak’s duration ends or you enter combat, start mining, or dock at a station. Field Repairs instantly restores 25% of the ship’s hull HP out of combat while undocked, which saves a trip back to a station after a rough fight. You activate both yourself, and each runs on a cooldown that shortens as the ship tiers up.

Stats and tiers

Base values below come from the current game data; research, buffs and officers raise them in play.

Tier Warp (speed / range) Impulse Cargo (protected) Shield HP Hull HP Health (displayed)
Tier 1 4.3 / 85 85 40,000 (1,000) 231,162 303,867 267,514
Tier 6 4.8 / 150 85 56,000 (1,400) 347,440 456,717 402,078
Tier 12 5.4 / 210 85 96,000 (2,250) 558,417 734,050 646,233

The Valdore lives up to its billing on speed: warp range grows from 85 at tier 1 to 210 at tier 12, letting it reach far corners of the map that slower ships cannot.

Weapons and firing pattern

Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires; cool-down is how many rounds pass between shots after that. Values are at max tier 12.

Weapon Type Shots Warm-up Cool-down Damage Crit chance Crit damage
Weapon 1 Energy 2 1 1 31,288–37,545 10% 150%
Weapon 2 Energy 2 1 1 31,288–37,545 10% 150%
Weapon 3 Energy 3 2 2 56,747–68,097 10% 150%

All three weapons are energy, so the Valdore favors crews and research that lean into energy weapon damage. Weapon 3 is the heavy hitter: it fires three shots but takes two rounds to warm up and cool down.

Crew slots and officer bonus

Officer slots open up as you level the ship:

Ship level Officer slots
5 1
10 2
20 3
35 4
55 5

The Valdore also boosts your officers’ own stats as it progresses, stepping up a fixed ladder. On this ship the attack, defense and health bonuses are identical at every step, so one column covers all three.

Amount Bonus
700 40%
1,400 80%
2,275 120%
3,150 160%
4,200 200%
5,600 240%
7,700 280%
10,500 320%
14,000 360%
21,000 400%

Valdore refits

Refits unlock the Valdore’s extra abilities and its skin. Each costs shards you collect for the ship.

Refit What it does
Valdore Cloaking Enables the ship’s cloak. Costs 60 shards to unlock.
Valdore Relentless Assault Unlocks Relentless Assault, which increases weapon damage against Hostiles and Armadas. Needs a level 42 Armory and 60 shards.
Cardassian Galor Unlocks the Cardassian Galor ship skin.
Field Repairs Unlocks Field Repairs. Costs 120 shards. Repairs 25% of hull HP out of combat while undocked.

Relentless Assault also appears as a ship-specific research project, so its exact bonus scales with how far you push that research rather than a single fixed number.

Crew for the Valdore

Because Phalanx pays off when you are defending, crew the Valdore for survival. Officers that raise shield mitigation, hull health, or your ships’ defense stats suit its job better than pure attack officers, and on defense you want a bridge that keeps the whole fleet alive long enough for Phalanx to build round over round.

Exact picks move with the meta and with which officers you have leveled, so check the Officer Tier List for current defensive crews rather than locking into one setup.

The Valdore in Star Trek

The Valdore is real Star Trek canon. The Valdore-type warbird first appeared in the 2002 film Star Trek: Nemesis, where Commander Donatra’s ship, the IRW Valdore, broke with the Romulan fleet and fought alongside the Enterprise-E against Shinzon’s Scimitar. In Star Trek Fleet Command the class is named for Senator and Admiral Valdore, the Romulan figure it honors. The game leans on the design’s reputation for speed, giving its Valdore high warp and impulse to match a minimalist vision of Romulan engineering.

Is the Valdore worth it?

For a grade 4 hull, the Valdore fills a clear niche: a fast, cloak-capable Explorer that props up a defending fleet through Phalanx. If you want a defensive ship for station or territory fights, or a Romulan hull with a cloak at this tier, it earns its slot. It also becomes scrappable at Operations level 55, so once you outgrow it the Valdore can feed materials back into higher-grade builds.
