Mow’ga Survey Ship

The Mow’Ga is a grade 5 Rare Klingon survey ship in Star Trek Fleet Command, built to pull crystal fast. Its Crystal Mining Laser lifts your crystal mining rate by hundreds of percent, and a large protected cargo hold keeps part of that haul safe if your miner gets jumped. It unlocks at Shipyard level 58. For end-game crystal farming, it earns its slot.

The short version: 350 blueprints, a level 58 Shipyard, a build of 113 days and 8 hours, and a cap of Tier 12 and ship level 60. The best places to use it are the 5★ crystal systems listed below, many of them in Klingon space.

How to get the Mow’Ga

The Mow’Ga needs 350 blueprints and a Shipyard at level 58 before you can build it. These grade 5 Rare miners have long been available from the faction store, so Klingon-aligned players collect the Mow’Ga blueprints against their Klingon standing.

The full build cost runs to 1,083,642,000,000 Tritanium, 26,255,250,000 Dilithium, 3,905 5★ Common Refined Crystal, and 2,210 5★ Common Refined Gas. Build time is 113 days and 8 hours, so line up the resources and the timer well ahead.

Each Mow’Ga blueprint is listed at 3,000 Klingon Credits, so the full 350 come to 1,050,000 Klingon Credits if you buy every print that way. See faction reputation for how the Klingon store opens up as your standing rises.

Mow’Ga ability

The Mow’Ga’s ship ability is the Crystal Mining Laser. It increases your crystal mining rate by 420% at ship level 1, rising to 970% at level 60. Like all ship abilities, it stays active at all times, so every crystal node you sit on fills your hold much faster than a general survey ship would manage.

This is the whole reason to fly the Mow’Ga. If crystal is the resource gating your builds or research, the laser turns a slow node into a short stop.

The hull’s own mining speed climbs as you tier it up, from about 54 at Tier 1 to roughly 88 at Tier 6 and 97 at the Tier 12 maximum. That base speed works alongside the ability, so a fully tiered Mow’Ga clears a crystal node faster than an early one even before officers and research are counted. The ship caps at Tier 12 and ship level 60, which is where the ability reaches its full 970%.

Stats and tiers

These are base values. Research, buffs, and officers raise them in play. The table shows three anchor tiers as the ship progresses from Tier 1 to its Tier 12 maximum.

Tier Warp (speed / range) Impulse Cargo (protected) Shield HP Hull HP Health (displayed)
1 4.2 / 425 100 4,200,000 (60,000) 1,217,620 1,538,690 1,378,155
6 5 / 685 100 5,937,500 (80,000) 1,830,050 2,312,610 2,071,330
12 6 / 975 100 8,125,000 (95,650) 2,941,266 3,716,838 3,329,052

Health (displayed) is the shield and hull average the game shows on the ship card. The protected cargo figure is the slice of your haul that survives if the ship is destroyed, which is what makes a dedicated miner safer to park in contested space.

Warp range also grows with tier, from 425 at Tier 1 to 975 at Tier 12. That extra reach lets a higher-tier Mow’Ga travel to crystal systems deeper in the map without a refuel stop, which matters when the best nodes sit several jumps out from your station.

Weapons and firing pattern

The Mow’Ga carries a single kinetic weapon, which matters mostly when a miner gets attacked rather than for hunting hostiles. Warm-up is the round a weapon first fires, and cool-down is the number of rounds between shots after that.

Weapon Type Shots Warm-up Cool-down Damage Crit chance Crit damage
Weapon 1 Kinetic 2 1 1 186,778–226,961 10% 150%

Crew slots and officer bonus

The Mow’Ga opens more officer slots as it levels, up to seven at ship level 45.

Ship level Officer slots
5 1
10 2
20 3
30 4
35 5
40 6
45 7

The ship also boosts the officers you crew on it, stepping up a ladder as you invest in the hull. On the Mow’Ga the attack, defense, and health bonuses are identical at each step, so the single column below applies to all three.

Amount Bonus (attack / defense / health)
1,300 30%
2,600 60%
4,225 90%
5,850 120%
7,800 150%
10,400 180%
14,300 210%
19,500 240%
26,000 270%
39,000 300%

Where to mine 5★ crystal with the Mow’Ga

The Crystal Mining Laser boosts every crystal node, but the Mow’Ga earns its build in 5★ crystal systems, where nodes hold far more than a lower-grade hull can clear quickly. These systems carry 5★ raw crystal, easiest first.

Ovelya 59 500 Klingon 3,000,000 None

Seven of these systems are Klingon territory, which suits a Klingon miner. The level 30 Alpha systems have small 250,000 nodes at low warp, while the level 50 to 59 systems hold nodes from 1,000,000 to 3,000,000. The exception is Idraan, a Dominion system with a single 60,000,000 node that costs a G5 Dominion Transwarp Cell to enter. For every crystal grade, see raw crystal.

Mow’Ga, Vrax or U.S.S. Beatty?

The Mow’Ga is one of three grade 5 Rare survey ships that unlock at Shipyard 58, one per faction and one per resource. All three share the same cargo hold and the same 420% to 970% mining rate bonus; only the resource changes.

Ship Faction Resource
Mow’Ga Klingon Crystal
Vrax Romulan Ore
U.S.S. Beatty Federation Gas

If you need all three 5★ resources from one hull, the Nova covers crystal, gas and ore with a smaller bonus and unlocks earlier, at Shipyard 52.

Crew for the Mow’Ga

A miner wants a bridge that pushes mining rate and protects cargo, not weapon damage. Put your best mining-rate captain in the chair and fill the bridge with officers who raise mining speed or increase how much cargo stays protected when your hull is destroyed. Since the Mow’Ga already specializes in crystal, officers that add flat mining speed stack cleanly on top of the Crystal Mining Laser.

Crew picks shift with the meta and with which officers you have leveled. For current mining bridges, check the Officer Tier List.

Two mining officers line up directly with this ship: Barot raises crystal mining rate as captain, and Quark adds mining speed from the bridge. Both add to what the Crystal Mining Laser already does.

The Mow’Ga in Star Trek

The Mow’ga class is a game design rather than a ship taken from a Star Trek episode. Its in-game story frames it as a joint Klingon and Federation project, drawing on the Klingon Par’tok freighters of the 24th century while borrowing lines from older Federation J- and Y-class freighters. The Par’tok itself is canon, a Klingon transport seen in the wider Star Trek universe, but the Mow’ga’s crystal-mining laser and its specific class are original to Star Trek Fleet Command. Treat its background as flavor built around a real Klingon freighter lineage.

Mow’Ga FAQ

What Shipyard level do you need for the Mow’Ga?

Shipyard level 58, plus 350 blueprints. The build then takes 113 days and 8 hours at base speed.

What does the Mow’Ga mine?

Crystal. Its Crystal Mining Laser raises the crystal mining rate by 420% at ship level 1 and 970% at level 60.

Does the Mow’Ga have refits or a cloak?

No refits are listed for the Mow’Ga, so it has no cloak and no active abilities. Everything it does comes from its always-on mining laser and its hold.

How much cargo does the Mow’Ga protect?

60,000 at Tier 1, 80,000 at Tier 6 and 95,650 at Tier 12, out of total holds of 4,200,000 to 8,125,000.

Is the Mow’Ga worth it?

For players at Shipyard 58 and above who need crystal in volume, the Mow’Ga is worth building. Little in its grade band mines crystal faster, and the protected cargo hold cushions raids on your miner. It is a specialist, so it will not replace a combat ship or a general survey vessel, and lower-level players should wait until they reach the shipyard and resource level to run it. If crystal is your bottleneck, chase it.
