Act As One is the mission that opens the Swarm story arc in Star Trek Fleet Command. It’s a neutral, auto-starting mission that becomes available at level 1, so most players run into it very early. You track a strange signal out to the Niawillen system and collect 200 Swarm Biominerals for finishing. There’s no combat and no branching choice, but the trip reaches warp 22, which is the one thing worth planning for.
Act As One objectives
The mission has a single objective, and it’s a travel step rather than a fight:
- Investigate the signal in Niawillen. The destination is the planet Gorvax inside that system.
Because Act As One auto-starts, you don’t pick it up from a character or a station. It appears on its own and points you toward Niawillen. Once you reach Gorvax and investigate the signal, the mission closes out right away with no follow-up objective. There’s no choice split, so the path and the reward are the same for every player. It’s also a neutral mission, so it won’t move your faction reputation while you complete it.
Where and what warp
Niawillen is the target system, and the specific stop is the Gorvax planet. The mission is flagged for level 1, which is why it turns up almost as soon as you start playing. The catch is the distance: the warp to complete is 22. For a brand-new account that’s a long way out, past the starting systems, so a low-level ship may not reach it in a single jump. Line up a ship with the range to get to Niawillen before you take the objective, and check your fuel so the travel step closes cleanly.
Act As One rewards
Completing Act As One pays out 200 Swarm Biominerals. Swarm Biominerals are the resource tied to the Swarm arc, and since this is the first mission in that line, the payout is your opening stock of them. Act As One has no mission in front of it, so it’s the true starting point for the Swarm story rather than a step in the middle of a chain. Hold onto the Biominerals, because the later Swarm missions are where that resource earns its keep.
Tips
Sort out your warp range first. At warp 22 the target sits well outside the home region, and an early ship might stop short. Fit a hull for range, or send a fast ship out toward Niawillen ahead of time, so the travel objective finishes in one go instead of leaving you stranded partway.
There’s nothing to crew for. The mission asks only that you travel and investigate, with no enemy to beat and no loadout that changes the outcome. Treat Act As One as the on-ramp to the Swarm arc: quick to clear, light on reward, and mostly there to open the missions that come after it. If you are pushing into the Swarm content early, running it as soon as your warp range allows keeps the storyline moving. Bank the 200 Swarm Biominerals and move on to the next step.
