Two Steps Ahead is a late Romulan rebel mission in Star Trek Fleet Command. You attack a Romulan Military Training Base in Yvnys, and partway in you choose between the Diversion Team and the Infiltration Team. The choice decides both the fight and the reward: a big Parsteel payout for the diversion, or Tritanium for the infiltration. It starts at warp 1 and needs warp 65 to complete. The game lists a recommended level of 1, but the level 39 hostiles and a 1.95 million strength captain show the real level of the mission.
Two Steps Ahead objectives
The mission opens with a shared step and then branches:
- Go to the Romulan Military Training Base. Location: Yvnys.
- Join the Diversion Team or the Infiltration Team? This is the choice split.
Diversion Team
- Besiegen Sie 15 Feinde der Stufe 39 oder höher.
- Kehren Sie zu Ihrer Station zurück.
Rewards: 38,280,000 Parsteel, 38 1M Parsteel Tokens, 600 Romulan Credits, 216,000 Romulan Points and -212,544 Federation Points.
Infiltration Team
- Defeat the Romulan Captain’s Ship. Location: Yvnys. Enemy strength is roughly 1,950,820.
- Bombard the military base. Location: Yvnys.
- Kehren Sie zu Ihrer Station zurück.
Rewards: 5,400,000 Tritanium, 5 1M Tritanium Tokens, 600 Romulan Credits, 216,000 Romulan Points and -212,544 Federation Points.
Wo und welcher Warp
The mission appears at warp 1, and Yvnys is the only named system. Completing it needs warp 65. The Diversion Team can hunt its 15 hostiles anywhere they are level 39 or higher, while the Infiltration Team does all of its work in Yvnys.
The recommended level is listed as 1. The level 39 hostile requirement and the 1.95 million strength captain are the practical bar.

Which team to join
Pick by resource first. The Diversion Team pays roughly 76 million Parsteel once the 38 tokens are counted, and the Infiltration Team pays roughly 10.4 million Tritanium including its 5 tokens. Whichever resource is holding up your next upgrade should decide it.
Then pick by play style. The diversion is a grind of 15 level 39 hostiles with no boss, which suits a ship that farms hostiles efficiently. The infiltration is one big fight plus a bombard step, which suits a strong single battleship and takes less time if you can win it.
Where it sits in the rebel story
Two Steps Ahead follows A Gift from the Shadows, which includes a 70M Parsteel donation, and leads into Halte deine Feinde näher bei dir, which asks for a 10M Tritanium donation and two fights of about 1.97 million strength each. Both of those Missionen also need warp 70 to complete, so this one is the lowest warp of the three.
Tips
Think ahead to the next donation. Keep Your Enemies Closer asks for 10M Tritanium, and the Infiltration Team’s reward, counting the tokens, covers that donation on its own. If Parsteel is your bottleneck instead, the diversion’s payout is far larger in raw numbers.
Watch the Federation loss. Both paths take 212,544 Federation Points, so the choice makes no difference to your Federation standing.
