<\/span>Who Nine of Eleven is in Star Trek Fleet Command<\/span><\/h2>\n

Nine of Eleven is an Uncommon, Command-class officer in Star Trek Fleet Command, and she belongs to the game’s Borg crew known as Unimatrix Twelve. Commanders who fight Borg ships or build Borg-themed bridges pick her up for one reason: she is built around defense.<\/p>\n

Her captain ability blunts an enemy Borg ship’s critical hits, and her officer ability raises the Defense of everyone on your bridge. Neither effect ends a fight quickly. Both keep a ship alive longer, which is what you want against the heavy-hitting Borg content the game leans on at several points in its progression.<\/p>\n

She is also an affordable officer. As an Uncommon, her shard cost is low next to the rare and epic<\/a> Borg drones, so she is one of the easier Borg officers to actually rank up and keep on a working crew.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Star Trek background<\/span><\/h2>\n

Nine of Eleven started as Lucia Gonzales, a Starfleet cadet. When the U.S.S. Sterling vanished near the edge of Borg-occupied space, Gonzales joined the crew sent to investigate. The search party met the same fate as the Sterling’s crew: forced assimilation into the Borg Collective. Gonzales the person was gone, replaced by a drone designated Nine of Eleven, Septenary Adjunct of Unimatrix Twelve.<\/p>\n

That name follows real Star Trek convention. The Borg do not use personal names. A drone is labeled by its place in a group, and a fuller designation adds a function and a unimatrix, the way Voyager’s Sieben von Neun<\/a> carried the title Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01. “Septenary” simply means seventh.<\/p>\n

The Borg are the franchise’s cybernetic hive mind, a Collective that assimilates other species and their technology in pursuit of its own idea of perfection. Nine of Eleven is one of several drones the game built from that lore. She has no episode of her own, but her story, a lost ship and a cadet turned drone, sits squarely inside how Star Trek has always written the Borg.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Her role in STFC<\/span><\/h2>\n

Nine of Eleven is a defensive officer. She does not boost weapon damage, she does not speed up mining, and she does not shorten repair times. Her value is survivability: cutting the damage your ship takes and helping it trade blows for longer.<\/p>\n

Defense is the officer stat that feeds your ship’s ability to absorb hits. An officer who raises Defense across the bridge makes the whole ship tougher, which helps on long grinds where you want to sit in a fight without burning through repair costs. That is the job Nine of Eleven does best.<\/p>\n

Because her captain ability is tied specifically to Borg combat, she reads as an early-to-mid game pick for players grinding Borg hostiles or running a full Borg crew. End-game commanders tend to have specialists that beat her in any single role, but a crew-wide Defense buff ages well, so she stays usable longer than most Uncommon officers.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Captain ability and officer ability<\/span><\/h2>\n

Borg Polarization (captain ability)<\/h3>\n

When Nine of Eleven captains a ship fighting a Borg vessel, Borg Polarization lowers that enemy’s chance to land a critical hit. At rank 1 the reduction is about 10 percent, as of the latest game Daten<\/a>. The effect shifts as she promotes, but rank 1 is the figure you can plan around, so treat it as your anchor.<\/p>\n

The limit is in the wording: the ability only works against Borg ships. Put her in the captain’s chair for a Borg hostile grind or a Borg armada and she earns the seat. Send her against Klingonisch<\/a>, Romulan, or Federation targets and the captain ability does nothing at all.<\/p>\n

Adapt & Overcome (officer ability)<\/h3>\n

Adapt & Overcome raises the Defense of every officer on the ship, herself included. Since Defense feeds into how much incoming damage your ship shrugs off, a flat boost to all officers is a steady survivability gain on almost any crew.<\/p>\n

Unlike the captain ability, Adapt & Overcome works no matter who you fight. That is why Nine of Eleven is often more useful on the bridge or below deck than in the captain’s chair, where her captain ability would sit idle against non-Borg targets.<\/p>\n
