Frank Leslie is an uncommon Federation officer in Star Trek Fleet Command, part of the Shakedown Cruise group that gathers most of the early Enterprise crew. His specialty is straightforward: he speeds up the experience your battleships earn, which makes him useful any time you are leveling a battleship hull.<\/p>\n

As captain, Leslie patches a small amount of hull damage back during combat when your ship is already in trouble. As an officer on the bridge, he boosts the ship experience your battleship gains each turn, and that bonus grows every time you rank him up.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Frank Leslie’s background<\/span><\/h2>\n

Frank Leslie is the in-game name for Mister Leslie, a recurring background character from Star Trek: The Original Series. Played by Eddie Paskey, Leslie appears in 57 of the 79 TOS episodes, usually on the Enterprise bridge or in Operationen<\/a>. He is rarely named in dialogue, and his first name “Frank” comes from later tie-in novels and reference works rather than the televised series itself.<\/p>\n

In canon, Leslie is a Starfleet officer who serves aboard the USS Enterprise during Kirk’s five-year mission. He works across departments depending on what the ship needs that week, including operations, engineering, security, and the helm. The character is catalogued in Star Trek canon as a versatile crew member who shows up in just about every Enterprise duty post at some point. That fits with how STFC frames him in his in-game flavor text: a hard-working crewman who has manned navigation, astrophysics, the warp core, and even security throughout his time on the ship.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Frank Leslie’s role in STFC<\/span><\/h2>\n

Leslie is an Engineering-class officer in the Shakedown Cruise group, alongside the other early Federation Besatzung der Enterprise<\/a>. His role is narrow: he speeds up Battleship XP grind, with a small hull-restore safety net on the captain side.<\/p>\n

That puts him in the leveling-and-utility lane rather than the combat lane. He does not buff weapon damage, increase shield health, or break enemy hostiles. What he does is shorten the number of fights you need to win to level up a battleship.<\/p>\n

If you are still leveling a Federation battleship, or any battleship at all, Leslie is a candidate for the bridge. His XP bonus applies to ship experience the same way an officer-XP bonus would, but pointed at the ship rather than the crew.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Frank Leslie’s captain ability and officer ability<\/span><\/h2>\n

Leslie has two abilities. Minor Damage Control fires when he captains the ship. Battleship Trainer activates whenever he sits on the bridge.<\/p>\n

Captain ability: Minor Damage Control<\/h3>\n

When Leslie captains a ship and the hull drops under 35% of its starting value, he restores 5% of the hull at the end of each round. That number is the rank-1 captain ability value and the safe figure to quote as of the latest game Daten<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It is a small, conditional repair effect. The hull-trigger threshold means the ability does nothing until you are already in trouble, and the recovery is modest even once it kicks in. Most players will rarely captain Leslie on purpose for combat, because stronger Federation captains exist for hostile farming, armadas, and station defense. The ability mostly matters as an emergency backstop on lower-stakes encounters.<\/p>\n

Use the captain slot for someone whose buff your fleet actually leans on, and put Leslie on the bridge instead.<\/p>\n

Officer ability: Battleship Trainer<\/h3>\n

Battleship Trainer is the reason to put Leslie on a ship. When he sits on the bridge of a battleship, he increases the ship experience earned each turn. The bonus only applies to Battleship hulls. Putting Leslie on an Explorer or Interceptor does nothing for those ships’ XP, and his ability simply sits unused.<\/p>\n

Even at rank 1, a 20% Battleship XP buff is a meaningful return on a single bridge slot for any player still grinding a battleship through its level ranges. At rank 5 that becomes a 60% buff, which adds up fast across a long leveling session.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Where Frank Leslie shines<\/span><\/h2>\n

A few situations earn Leslie his bridge slot:<\/p>\n
