The three Warehouses set how much Parsteel, Tritanium, and Dilithium you can hold, and the three Vaults decide how much of that stockpile survives an enemy raid. Upgrading it raises your maximum capacity for that resource, so a fuller Warehouse means more Parsteel, Tritanium, or Dilithium sitting safely on hand for upgrades. At high levels each Warehouse also unlocks capacity for the matching Sigma resource (Σ-Parsteel, Σ-Tritanium, Σ-Dilithium), which the Generators start producing later in the game.

The capacity climb is steep. The Parsteel Warehouse holds 5,000 at level 1 and roughly 100 million by level 20, then keeps scaling into the hundreds of billions by level 40. From the mid-50s onward the base capacity settles at about 34 trillion and holds there through level 80. Sigma-Parsteel capacity is a separate track that switches on at level 61, starting near 2,000 and reaching about 2.24 million by level 80. Because the three Warehouses share identical output values, the Tritanium and Dilithium Warehouses follow the same capacity curve for their own resources.

A Vault does a different job. It protects a set amount of your stored resource from enemy raids, so anything under the Vault’s protection line cannot be stolen when your station is hit. Upgrading a Vault raises how much it shields, and at high levels it also protects the matching Sigma resource. The Parsteel Vault protects about 40 at level 1, rising to roughly 5,250 at level 20, 48,000 at level 40, 183,000 at level 60, and 720,000 at level 80. The Tritanium and Dilithium Vaults protect the same amounts for their resources.

One thing to keep straight: a Vault does not protect your entire stockpile, only the amount its current level covers. Anything you hold above that line is still exposed. Raising the Warehouse lets you hold more; raising the Vault decides how much of that holding is raid-proof. The Sigma protection on the Vaults matters mainly in the late game, once your station is old enough to sit on meaningful Sigma-Parsteel, Sigma-Tritanium, and Sigma-Dilithium reserves. Until then, the base protection number is the one to watch.

Upgrade costs and build times

Costs and build times ramp hard across 80 levels. The milestone table below uses the Parsteel Warehouse as the representative build. The other five buildings upgrade to level 80 on very similar curves, with costs that vary slightly by building rather than matching to the exact number. Values are current as of the latest game data.

Ebene

Kosten

Build time

Requires

1

20 Parsteel

30s

Operations 1, Parsteel Generator A 1

10

7,000 Parsteel, 125 Tritanium

42m

Operations 10, Parsteel Generator A 10

20

216,750 Parsteel, 2,125 Tritanium

11h 31m

Operations 20, Parsteel Generator A 20

30

19.89M Parsteel, 195,000 Tritanium, 37 3★ Uncommon Refined Ore

1d 5h

Operations 30, Parsteel Generator A 30

40

4.298B Parsteel, 15.05M Tritanium, 5,000 4★ Common Refined Ore

20d 4h

Operations 40, Parsteel Generator A 40

50

187.4B Parsteel, 918.8M Tritanium

345d 21h

Operations 50, Parsteel Generator A 50

60

60.28T Parsteel, 123.1B Tritanium, 115,100 5★ Common Refined Ore, 7,600 5★ Rare Refined Ore

728d 17h

Operations 60, Parsteel Generator A 60

70

40.46M Σ-Parsteel, 396,625 Σ-Tritanium, 609,000 6★ Common Refined Ore

192d 4h

Operations 70, Parsteel Generator A 70

80

19.75B Σ-Parsteel, 48.41M Σ-Tritanium, 8.703M 7★ Common Refined Ore, 7.833M 7★ Common Refined Gas

4639d 11h

Operations 80, Parsteel Generator A 80

Taking one Warehouse from level 1 to 80 runs to about 232.7 trillion Parsteel and 471.4 billion Tritanium, plus large amounts of refined ore and gas and, at the top end, Sigma-Parsteel and Sigma-Tritanium. The cumulative build time, with no speedups applied, comes to roughly 26,144 days. Nobody upgrades in one sitting; the point of the total is scale. These are long-tail buildings you chip at over the life of an account, and every level past the mid-60s leans on Sigma resources and 7★ materials you will not have early.

How Warehouses and Vaults fit your station

The Warehouses arrive on their own schedule. The Parsteel Warehouse is available at Operations 1, the Tritanium Warehouse at Operations 6, and the Dilithium Warehouse at Operations 10, each paired with the matching Generator. That pacing lines up with when each resource starts to matter, so you rarely have to go out of your way for them early on.

The Vaults are the deliberate choice. All three sit behind the Unlock Vaults research, so none of them exist on your station until you spend the research to open them. Once unlocked, they upgrade independently of the Warehouses. A common pattern is to keep a Warehouse a step or two ahead of your actual income so upgrades never overflow, then push the matching Vault whenever raids start eating into your stockpile.

Which resource to prioritize follows your bottleneck. If you routinely bank huge Parsteel piles for a big Operations jump, the Parsteel Warehouse and Vault come first. If Dilithium is your choke point for research and refits, favor that pair. Because the three Warehouses share the same capacity curve and the three Vaults share the same protection curve, the decision is about which resource you hold most of, not about one building being stronger than another.

It also helps to think about the two buildings for each resource as a set. The Warehouse controls the ceiling and the Vault controls the safe floor beneath it. In practice you want the Warehouse high enough that Generator output never spills over the cap, and the Vault high enough that a bad raid does not wipe out a save you have been building toward. When those two numbers drift apart, that is your cue for which of the pair to upgrade next.

Are Warehouses and Vaults worth upgrading?

Yes, but treat them as maintenance rather than a power spike. Warehouses are non-negotiable: without the headroom you cannot bank enough to afford major upgrades, and capped storage quietly wastes everything your Generators produce past the ceiling. Vaults are situational and pay off most for active PvP players and anyone parked in contested space, where the protected amount is the difference between keeping a raid target and rebuilding it. Keep the Warehouses ahead of your income and raise the Vaults when the game starts taking resources you meant to spend.

Warehouses set how much Parsteel, Tritanium, and Dilithium you can hold; Vaults protect that stockpile from raids.
