It punishes an enemy that lands critical hits by cutting their base weapon damage, drops their critical hit damage on its own, and raises your own weapon damage once it reaches tier 2. Every effect works only against other players, so this is a PvP piece first and last. If you fight other captains often, it earns its slot.

What Q Cannon does

Q Cannon carries three buffs, and all of them apply against players only. Its signature effect triggers whenever your opponent scores a critical hit: for the next two rounds, their base weapon damage drops. At unlock that reduction is 20%, and at max tier and level it reaches 200%. The more an enemy leans on crits, the more this effect turns their own aggression against them.

Buff

Unlocks at tier

Unlock value

Max value

After each opponent critical hit, reduce their base weapon damage for 2 rounds

Stufe 1

20%

200%

Reduce the opponent’s base critical hit damage

Stufe 1

10%

300%

Increase your base weapon damage

Stufe 2

30%

1,500%

Together the crit-damage cut and the weapon-damage reduction blunt a burst-heavy attacker, while the tier 2 weapon-damage buff gives your own ship a hard-hitting return once you have invested in it.

How to get Q Cannon

Q Cannon is Chaos Tech, so it draws on the Chaos Tech economy rather than the standard Forbidden Tech currencies. You unlock Chaos Tech slots, and can remove a piece from a ship, with Chaos Tech Fusion Rods, earned in the Continuum refinery or bought from the store. The raw materials trace back to Chaos Tech Fragments, which you exchange into Chaos Tech materials in the Continuum refinery whenever you pick up excess Chaos Tech shards. Building the piece up then draws on the tier-up and level-up resources below.

Upgrading Q Cannon

Tiers and levels do two different jobs. Tiering up raises the level cap and unlocks the later buff, since the weapon-damage boost stays inactive until tier 2. Leveling up scales the values you already have toward their maximums. Q Cannon tops out at tier 12 and level 60.

Ebene

Level cap

Kosten

Stufe 1

5

Starting tier

Stufe 7

35

18,000 Chaos Tech Tier-Up Catalyst

Stufe 12

60

22,000 Chaos Tech Tier-Up Catalyst

Reaching max tier costs 182,800 Chaos Tech Tier-Up Catalyst in total. Leveling all the way to 60 costs 112,800 Chaos Tech Reactor and 261,475 Chaosmatter, both earned by defeating Assimilated El-Aurian hostiles and exchanging their loot in the Continuum refinery.

Best ships and uses for Q Cannon

Every Q Cannon buff reads “against players,” which makes the choice simple: put it on the ship you take into PvP. It does nothing against hostiles or in armadas, so it is wasted on a grinder or a miner. Slot it on your main battle ship for territory fights and open-space duels, especially against opponents whose damage depends on landing critical hits. Pair it with a crew that already leans into weapon damage so the tier 2 buff compounds what you are doing.

Q Cannon in Star Trek

The Q Cannon grows out of one of Star Trek’s stranger corners: the civil war inside the Q Continuum. In Voyager’s “Death Wish,” a Q known as Quinn seeks asylum aboard Voyager because, after an eternity of omnipotence, he wants the right to die. His choice fractures the Continuum, and “The Q and the Grey” later stages that conflict in the imagery of the American Civil War, down to the muskets and uniforms. The cannon itself is the game’s own invention, but it fits that arc: a weapon strange enough to kill a being that cannot normally die, dressed in 19th-century hardware. The flavor text frames it as too dangerous for any mortal mind to fully grasp.

Is Q Cannon worth it?

Q Cannon is a specialist. If PvP is where you spend your time, an Epic anti-crit and weapon-damage piece is worth chasing and worth leveling, since its biggest numbers only arrive at higher tiers. If you mostly grind hostiles, run armadas, or mine, your Chaos Tech materials are better spent elsewhere. Take it as far as your PvP ambitions justify, and no further.

Q Cannon is an Epic Chaos Tech for PvP in STFC: cut an enemy’s weapon and crit damage while boosting your own.
