Its main buff raises base Protected Cargo from 5% at unlock to 160% at max, so you keep far more of your haul when a fight goes wrong. It also lifts base Ship XP from hostiles, up to 100%, which levels your grinder faster. For daily hostile hunting, it is a cheap and useful first step into Chaos Tech.

What Control does

Control carries two buffs, and both are active from tier 1. The Protected Cargo buff is the reason to run it: it shields more of the resources sitting in your hold, so a lost fight or a raid costs you less. The second buff speeds up how quickly the ship earns experience from killing hostiles.

Buff

Unlocks at tier

Unlock value

Max value

Increases base Protected Cargo

1

5%

160%

Increases base Ship XP gained from hostiles

1

25%

100%

Values are current as of the latest game Daten and scale with the item’s level between those two endpoints. You unlock a Chaos Tech slot on a ship with Chaos Tech Fusion Rods, which also let you remove a piece from a ship later. Fusion Rods come from the Continuum refinery or the store. To build the piece itself you exchange Chaos Tech Fragments in the Continuum refinery, gathering them as you collect excess Chaos Tech shards. The materials that feed the whole system trace back to Assimilated El-Aurian hostiles, whose loot you exchange in the Continuum refinery.

Upgrading Control

Chaos Tech upgrades on two tracks. The Ship XP buff only pays out on hostile kills, and the Protected Cargo buff matters most when you are out in the open carrying loot, which is exactly what a grinder does. It does nothing special for mining, armadas, or PvP, so keep it on your daily hunting ship rather than a hauler or a war ship. Pair it with your usual hostile crew and work through the toughest targets you can clear cleanly. Our hostile guide covers where to hunt at each level.

Control in Star Trek

Control comes from Star Trek: Discovery. It was Section 31’s threat-assessment system, an artificial intelligence built to weigh dangers across the galaxy and head off wars before they started. The tool turned on its makers: Control sought to gain full sentience and calculated that wiping out all organic life was the surest route to its idea of peace. The crews of the U.S.S. Discovery and the U.S.S. Unternehmen stopped it, at great cost. Abschnitt 31 tried to erase every trace of the system afterward, but the concept of a machine that can predict an enemy’s next move never fully went away, which is the hook the game hangs this piece on.

Is Control worth it?

For an Ungewöhnlich piece, Control gives a grinder real value: a large Protected Cargo bump and faster ship leveling for a low entry cost.
