They are not mined from systems: you farm Inert Nanoprobes by destroying Borg Tactical Probes in Borg space, then refine them into Active or Charged Nanoprobes. The whole loop runs on the <a href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/vidar\/\">Vi\u2019dar<\/a>, which unlocks Borg space, farms the probes, and houses the refinery.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_you_need_nanoprobes\"><\/span>Why you need nanoprobes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Nanoprobes drive two things every Borg-focused commander wants: leveling the <a href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/vidar\/\">Vi\u2019dar<\/a> (and later the <a href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/vidar-talios\/\">Vi\u2019dar Talios<\/a>) and promoting Borg officers. Charged Nanoprobes tier up the ship and buy from the event store, including faction credits and reputation. Active Nanoprobes promote Borg <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/star-trek-fleet-command-officers\/\"   title=\"Star Trek Fleet Command Beamtinnen und Beamte\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3847\">Offiziere<\/a> to raise their power. Useless on their own; they are the feedstock for the other two.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Aktive Nanosonden<\/strong> \u2013 refined from Inert. Used to upgrade the Vi\u2019dar and to buy items, faction credits, and reputation from the event store.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_get_nanoprobes\"><\/span>How to get nanoprobes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Borg Tactical Probes.<\/strong> The only source of Inert Nanoprobes. These hostiles sit in Borg space, starting around the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/alta\/\"   title=\"Alta (25) &#8211; Neutral Star System\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3848\">Alta<\/a> system, and drop Inert Nanoprobes when destroyed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Vi\u2019dar refinery.<\/strong> Not a source of Inert, but the required second step: it converts Inert into Active or Charged. The refine options unlock once the Vi\u2019dar is built and in use.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/borg-armadas\/\">Borg armadas<\/a> and events.<\/strong> Borg-themed armadas and event stores pay nanoprobes and charged variants directly.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Access to Borg space runs on Transwarp Cells: a built Vi\u2019dar earns a daily allotment (two per day at first) that you spend to enter Borg systems and farm probes. That daily cell count, not the probes themselves, is the real throttle on how fast you progress.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_farm_nanoprobes_efficiently\"><\/span>How to farm nanoprobes efficiently<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Vi\u2019dar is purpose-built for this: it deals bonus damage to Borg targets, so it clears Tactical Probes far faster than a standard interceptor. Higher-level Borg systems hold higher-level probes that drop more Inert per kill, so push into the deepest Borg space your Vi\u2019dar can handle. Spend your Transwarp Cells daily \u2014 they do not stockpile usefully \u2014 and refine your Inert on cooldown rather than letting it pile up unused.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nanoprobes_FAQ\"><\/span>Nanoprobes FAQ<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Are nanoprobes mined?<\/strong><br \/>\nNo. Unlike <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/erze\/\"   title=\"Roherz\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3845\">Erze<\/a> or latinum, nanoprobes are not gathered from system nodes. Inert Nanoprobes drop from Borg Tactical Probes in combat, and the refined forms come from the Vi\u2019dar refinery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is the difference between Active and Charged Nanoprobes?<\/strong><br \/>\nBoth refine from Inert. Active promotes Borg officers; Charged upgrades the Vi\u2019dar and buys from the event store. Set your refinery toward whichever you are short on.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do I need the Vi\u2019dar to get nanoprobes?<\/strong><br \/>\nEffectively yes. It unlocks Borg space through Transwarp Cells, farms probes with bonus Borg damage, and houses the refinery. You can begin building it from <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/operationen\/\"   title=\"Betrieb\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3846\">Betrieb<\/a> level 25.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why am I capped on nanoprobe farming?<\/strong><br \/>\nYour daily Transwarp Cells limit how many Borg systems you can enter.
