Players chase her for one reason above the rest: her Captain Maneuver delivers an extremely large shot boost against player Battleships that are under the Hull Breach effect. If your fleet plans to chew through Commander Borg Cubes or oversized PvP targets, she is one of the strongest captains the game offers for that job.

The catch is right there in the trigger condition. She only fires when the enemy is a player Battleship and Hull Breach is on the target. Outside of that window, she does very little. That is why almost every guide pairs her with officers who guarantee Hull Breach on round one and with crews that already want to fight Battleships.

Her own officer ability handles the Hull Breach side of the equation. When assigned to the bridge, she has a strong chance at the start of each round to apply Hull Breach to the enemy player target for two rounds. The chance scales up as she ranks, so a fully promoted Specialist Seven can apply Hull Breach reliably without help.

Star Trek background

The character behind the officer card is Seven of Nine, born Annika Hansen on the Tendara colony in 2344. Her parents took her on an unauthorized mission into the Delta Quadrant to study the Borg. The family ship was disabled by an ion storm in 2350, and all three Hansens were assimilated. Annika emerged from a maturation chamber in 2355 as a Borg drone designated Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01, and spent eighteen years inside the Collective.

In 2374, Captain Kathryn Janeway severed her from the Borg during a temporary alliance against Species 8472 and chose to keep her aboard the USS Voyager. The Doctor handled most of her implant removal and her social and emotional re-education, while Janeway became her mentor. Her time on Voyager and her bond with Icheb shaped the version of the character who later joined the Fenris Rangers along the former Romulan Neutral Zone, took a field commission from Jean-Luc Picard, and eventually rose to command the USS Enterprise-G.

STFC takes a different turn with the same character. In the game’s flavor text, the Federation denies her entry to Starfleet Academy on the same grounds the canon backstory establishes, but instead of joining the Rangers she strikes out alone into the Neutral Zone. There she earns the nickname Hound of Yoruba while protecting independent operators from pirates and slavers. That fits the Retaliation Squad framing: a fierce protector who hits Battleships harder than almost anyone else in the roster.

Role in STFC

Specialist Seven is a Command-class Epic officer built for player versus player combat. She is the captain piece of the Battleship Retaliation Squad alongside Infiltrator Tuvok and Icheb, and her best work happens against enemy Battleships that have Hull Breach on them. Outside of those situations she is fine as a bridge officer because the Hull Breach apply chance still triggers against player targets, but her Captain Maneuver loses most of its value if you are not punching up at a Battleship.

She is not a hostile or armada captain. She is a PvP specialist who happens to also be useful against the largest player Battleships in the game, including the Borg Cube that commanders bring out for Borg-related events.

Captain ability: Harmony in Individuality

Harmony in Individuality triggers on round start when the enemy ship is a player Battleship under Hull Breach. When the trigger fires, it increases your shots by sixty percent per round for four rounds, cumulatively. As of the latest game data, the rank-1 value is 60 percent. The boost stacks each round it triggers, which is why she puts so much damage into a long fight against an enemy Battleship that cannot quickly recover from Hull Breach.

Captain Maneuvers only activate when the officer is sitting in the captain chair of your ship, so she needs to be the captain of the fleet making the play, not a back-row support. The bonus does not apply when you are fighting non-Battleship targets or when Hull Breach has not yet been applied.

Officer ability: Power In Perfection

When Specialist Seven is assigned to the bridge, Power In Perfection rolls a chance at the start of every round to apply Hull Breach to your player target for two rounds. The chance climbs each rank, so the higher she ranks, the more reliable that Hull Breach window becomes. Officer Abilities work from any bridge seat, which is what makes her a strong support piece even on ships where someone else is the captain.

The practical effect is that she can be her own Hull Breach setter when she captains your ship, so you do not strictly need another officer to apply the debuff before her Captain Maneuver lights up.

Where Specialist Seven shines

The fights she is built for are large player Battleships, which in 2026 STFC means Commander-level Borg Cubes during Borg-themed events and the highest-end PvP targets in the upper systems. In those fights, the Hull Breach apply chance plus the per-round cumulative shot boost stacks into a damage curve that almost no other captain in the game can match.

She is also a solid pick for any crew that wants Hull Breach reliably on the target without burning a second officer slot on a Hull Breach applier. That opens up bridge seats for damage, isolytic cascade, or barrier officers.

She is not a strong choice against NPC hostiles, armadas, or station defense crews. Those builds want different captains, and her trigger condition will not fire most of the time.

How to get Specialist Seven

Specialist Seven came in with the Battleship Retaliation Squad during the Year of Hell Voyager arc. Like most event-cycle Epic officers, her shards rotate through faction store offerings, recruit tokens, and arc-specific event boards. Total shard cost from recruitment through max rank is 1,500 shards. The per-rank cost climbs sharply at the top, with the rank-5 promotion alone costing 800 shards.

Check the current store and event rotations for the most accurate way to farm her today. Specific event availability shifts every few weeks, so anything more specific than that ages out fast.

Promotion shard cost

Current as of the latest game data.

Rang

Shards to promote

1

100

2

100

3

200

4

300

5

800

Synergies and crews

Her synergy group is the Battleship Retaliation Squad alongside Infiltrator Tuvok and Icheb. A few crew shapes come up repeatedly and are worth knowing if you are building around her.

Interceptor anti-Battleship crew

Specialist Seven captain, Garak, Gul Dukat. A direct upgrade to the standard Interceptor Strike Team. Gul Dukat keeps boosting shots and Garak keeps boosting critical hit rate no matter who you fight, and Specialist Seven layers her extra Battleship shot boost on top. For use on Interceptors.

Isolytic cascade crew

Specialist Seven, Infiltrator Tuvok, Carol Freeman. This shape generates one of the largest isolytic cascade damage spikes you can build right now. If the enemy does not have meaningful defenses against isolytic damage, the result is brutal. Carol Freeman can captain the crew if you want a weaker but always-on shot boost instead of the conditional Battleship one.

Apex Barrier defense crew

Specialist Seven, Icheb, MU Uhura or Dezoc. Once the assimilation effect from Dezoc activates, Icheb’s Apex Barrier becomes very hard to break through. This is the defensive shape of the Retaliation Squad.

Frequently asked questions

Is Specialist Seven worth ranking up?

If you spend any time fighting other players in Battleships, including Borg Cube content, yes. Her Captain Maneuver is the largest shot boost the game offers for that specific situation, and her bridge Hull Breach scales upward with rank, so the higher she goes the more consistently her own ability fires.

Where do you get Specialist Seven shards?

Her shards have rotated through Voyager-arc events, recruit tokens, and faction store offerings since her release. Check the current store and event rotations rather than trusting any older guide on availability.

Is she good against NPC hostiles or armadas?

Not really. Her Captain Maneuver only triggers against player Battleships with Hull Breach, so against hostiles, armada targets, or station defense fleets she behaves like an average Command officer. Use a different captain for that content.

What ship should I put Specialist Seven on?

Use an Interceptor if you want the Garak and Gul Dukat shape. For the isolytic cascade and Apex Barrier shapes, the ship choice follows the rest of the crew; Carol Freeman variants can run on more hull types.

Should you chase her?

Specialist Seven is worth recruiting if your fleet does meaningful PvP against large Battleships or fights Commander Borg Cubes. If you only play hostile and mining content, she will sit in your roster more than she earns a seat. For PvP and Borg-focused players, she is one of the strongest Epic captains in the current pool, and her bridge ability makes her a useful Hull Breach applier even when someone else captains.

How to use Specialist Seven in Star Trek Fleet Command, her captain and officer abilities, the best crews, and how to farm her shards.

[89

post-26478","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-officers
["GET
