She is built around one job: keeping a Wave Defense bridge’s shield up between rounds.

Her officer ability, Group Work, restores shield health on round start in Wave Defense. She has no captain’s maneuver, so she belongs in an officer slot on the bridge, not in the captain’s chair.

If you play Wave Defense regularly, she is worth ranking up. If you don’t, she is a collector card. She does nothing for armadas, hostiles, mining, or PvP.

Star Trek background

Genesis Lythe is a cadet at Starfleet Academy in the 2026 Paramount+ series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. She is played by Bella Shepard.

Genesis is the daughter of a Dar-Sha Starfleet admiral. The Dar-Sha are a new species introduced in the show: humans with thin ridges above the eyes in place of eyebrows. She is the first Dar-Sha character in Star Trek, and the only Dar-Sha among the show’s central five cadets. Before she enrolled in the Academy, she had never been on a planet. Her run as Captain of the Inter-Base Youth League, her standing as top of her class, and her stint as Student Ambassador to the Model Federation Council all happened off-world.

Her arc on the show centers on imposter syndrome. Her admissions references stated she was motivated by fear of not being good enough, and to be admitted she altered them. After Chancellor Ake nominated her for the pre-Command Track program, she manipulated a fellow cadet into helping her break into the USS Athena’s bridge to delete the tampered letters. She confessed, accepted academic probation and 200 hours of menial service, and stayed on at the Academy.

In short, the canon version of Genesis is “Starfleet royalty” who is privately convinced she does not belong. The STFC officer card leans into the leadership side of that arc. The show keeps the doubt running underneath.

Her role in STFC

Genesis Lythe is a Rare-tier Command officer in the Starfleet Academy group, with a Neutral / Independent affiliation. She tops out at rank 5, like every officer. Promotion costs ladder from 38 shards at rank 1 to 225 at rank 5, for 588 shards total to max her.

Her function is narrow. She is a Wave Defense bridge officer. Wave Defense is the round-by-round mode where alliances defend a station against incoming hostile waves and the goal is to survive as many rounds as possible. Officers built for it tend to focus on shield restoration, hull repair, or weapon procs that fire at round start. Genesis fits the shield-restoration slot.

Outside Wave Defense, she has no contribution to standard PvE, PvP, mining, hostile farming, or armadas. Treat her as a single-purpose tool, not a flex pick.

Captain ability and officer ability

Captain ability: Chain of Command

Genesis Lythe has no captain’s maneuver. The card lists “Chain of Command” in her captain slot, and the description spells it out: equipping this officer as the captain of a ship gives no benefit. Do not put her in the captain seat. You will leave the captain buff empty.

Officer ability: Group Work

Group Work is the reason she sits on a bridge. When she is assigned to a bridge slot, she restores a percentage of the ship’s shield health at round start in Wave Defense. The bonus scales each time you promote her, and the rank-5 value is the largest one she gets. As of the latest game data, the rank-5 figure is 30% shield restore on round start, with ranks 1 through 4 scaling up to it. Treat that as a snapshot; Scopely can adjust the numbers in any patch.

A few practical notes on how Group Work behaves. It fires on round start, not continuously. If your shield drops mid-round, the ability does not help until the next round begins. It applies in Wave Defense only. Other game modes get nothing from her, even with Genesis parked on the bridge. And she is an officer-slot pick, not a captain. Pair her with a captain whose maneuver matches what your Wave Defense ship is doing, whether that is damage output, hull, or a different round-start trigger.

Where she shines

Wave Defense ladders are the obvious case. A shield-restore bridge officer extends the number of waves your ship can absorb, and Genesis is one of the cleaner sources of that effect at the Rare tier. If your alliance is pushing for rounds in a Wave Defense event, she earns a slot.

She also rounds out a Starfleet Academy themed bridge. Her synergy group lines up with that cohort, so if you are running an Academy crew on a Command captain, she fits.

For newer players, the shard total is reachable. 588 shards to max is a moderate ask for a Rare officer, which makes her a viable Wave Defense piece without chasing Epic pulls.

She does not belong on a hostile-grind crew, an armada crew, a PvP setup, or a mining ship. The Wave Defense gate on her ability is the whole story.

How to get her shards

Genesis Lythe is part of the Starfleet Academy content set, which arrived with the Academy expansion. Standard places to look for her shards are the Starfleet Academy event store when an Academy event is active, recruit tokens that include the Academy officer pool, and limited-time officer pulls during Academy event windows.

Availability rotates. Check the current event calendar and the in-game store before you commit shards or grinding to her. If she is not in rotation, none of the standard sources will produce her.

Synergies

Two layers matter for any officer: the class-synergy bonus, and the named officer synergies.

For class synergy, Genesis is a Command officer. When she sits on a bridge alongside other Command officers, the bridge picks up the captain’s standard class-synergy bonus to whatever stat the captain’s class boosts. The exact percentage depends on the captain you pair her with, not on Genesis herself.

For named officer synergies, the in-game card shows a Synergy Officers list of cadets and crewmates who buff Genesis. Check that list on her card before you finalize a Wave Defense crew. The Starfleet Academy cohort is the obvious place to look first; her synergy group sits inside that family.

Character traits

Genesis Lythe’s officer card carries the standard trait slots that every card has, covering faction, class, group, and trait icons. Read the specific trait labels off her card in your own client. The confirmed metadata is Command class, Neutral / Independent affiliation, Starfleet Academy group, Rarity 3 (Rare), max rank 5.

Frequently asked questions

Is Genesis Lythe any good?

In Wave Defense, yes. She is one of the more usable Rare-tier shield-restore officers from the Starfleet Academy lineup. Outside Wave Defense, she does nothing, so her overall value depends on how much Wave Defense you actually play.

Where do you get Genesis Lythe shards?

From Starfleet Academy event stores and Academy-pool recruit tokens when those are in rotation. Check the current event calendar before grinding.

What ship is Genesis Lythe best on?

Whichever ship you take into Wave Defense. Group Work is a bridge-officer ability and is not tied to a specific hull, so the right answer is the same as “what ship is your alliance running for Wave Defense this season.”

Can you use Genesis Lythe as captain?

No. Her captain slot has no maneuver. Equipping her as captain leaves the buff empty. Put a real captain in the chair and use Genesis on the bridge.

Is Genesis Lythe worth ranking up?

If you play Wave Defense, yes. Her ability scales with rank, and 588 shards to max is reachable for a Rare officer. If you don’t play Wave Defense, leave her at whatever rank you got her to and spend shards elsewhere.

When to chase her

Genesis Lythe is a single-purpose Rare officer: a Wave Defense shield restorer with no captain ability and no use outside that mode. If Wave Defense is part of your weekly rotation, she earns her bridge slot. If it isn’t, she is a collector card with a good Star Trek story behind her. Decide before you spend on shards, not after.

What Genesis Lythe does in Star Trek Fleet Command: her Group Work officer ability, Wave Defense role, and how she fits a Starfleet Academy crew.

[89

post-26425","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-officers
["GET
