It starts and finishes at warp 1, and the game lists a recommended level of 1, so the upgrade is the whole task. The reward is 340 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/tritanium\/\"   title=\"Tritanium\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"14967\">Tritanium<\/a> and five 1 Minute Repair Speed Ups. The upgrade itself costs only <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/parsteel\/\"   title=\"Parsteel\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"14972\">Parsteel<\/a>, so the Tritanium is a clean gain for an upgrade you need anyway.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Upgrade_R_D_Department_to_Level_9_objectives\"><\/span>Upgrade R&amp;D Department to Level 9 objectives<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The story line reads: The R&amp;D Department unlocks additional upgrades for the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/werft\/\"   title=\"Shipyard\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"14970\">Shipyard<\/a> and Ships. There is one objective and no choice split:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upgrade R&amp;D Department to Level 9.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No system, no fight and no donation.
