It needs only warp 1 to start and finish, and the game lists a recommended level of 1, so the building upgrade is the only thing that matters. The reward is 4,000 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/tritanium\/\"   title=\"Tritanium\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"13335\">Tritanium<\/a> and two 5 Minute Repair Speed Ups, and completing it unlocks Upgrade Shipyard: Level 15. It is a small bonus for an upgrade you need anyway.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Upgrade_R_D_Department_to_Level_15_objectives\"><\/span>Upgrade R&amp;D Department to Level 15 objectives<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The story line explains that the R&amp;D Department unlocks additional upgrades for the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/werft\/\"   title=\"Shipyard\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"16420\">Shipyard<\/a> and Ships. There is one objective and no choice split:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upgrade R&amp;D Department to Level 15.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No system is named, no hostile is listed and nothing is donated. The mission clears as soon as the <a href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/rd-abteilung\/\">F&amp;E-Abteilung<\/a> reaches level 15.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_and_what_warp\"><\/span>Wo und welcher Warp<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Warp 1 to start and warp 1 to complete, with no pickup system. The whole mission happens on your station.<\/p>\n<p>The recommended level is listed as 1, but the mission only completes once R&amp;D Department 15 is built, so that upgrade and its requirements are the real gate.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_R_D_Department_15_costs\"><\/span>What R&amp;D Department 15 costs<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In current game data, level 15 of the R&amp;D Department needs Operations 15, <a href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/akademie\/\">Akademie<\/a> 15 and <a href=\"https:\/\/star-trek-fleet-command.1337wiki.com\/de\/raffinerie\/\">Raffinerie<\/a> 13. After that the chain moves on to Upgrade Operations to Level 16, worth 6,000 Tritanium and two 5 Minute Repair Speed Ups.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tips\"><\/span>Tips<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The R&amp;D Department&#8217;s Research Speed Bonus reaches 24% at level 15 in current game data, up from 14% at level 10, so this upgrade speeds up every research you run after it.
