It begins with a distress call from a remote uninhabited planet, runs through two fights in Lorillia, and ends with a run to the Astrida system. Warp 13 is what you need to finish it.

Uncaged objectives

Five objectives, completed in this order. There is no choice split, so every player finishes Uncaged the same way.

Investigate the distress call from Lorillia.

Stop the Starfleet bombardment of Lorillia. The target sits at roughly 12,765 strength.

Repair Khan’s ship with 2,000 Tritanium.

Defeat the second Starfleet vessel, also in Lorillia and also around 12,765 strength.

Escape to the Astrida system.

The Tritanium objective is a donation, not a fight. The game takes the 2,000 Tritanium straight out of your warehouse, so the mission stalls there if your stores are low.

The last objective is a travel step rather than a combat one. After the second Starfleet vessel goes down, you break off and set course for Astrida, which is what ends the mission and closes out this part of the arc.

Wo und welcher Warp

You can reach the mission’s starting point at warp 1, which is why Uncaged shows up so early in a player’s timeline. Finishing it is a different question: the full run takes you out to warp 13, and most of that distance is the final hop to Astrida. Four of the five objectives happen in and around Lorillia, so once you are there the middle of the mission is compact.

If your warp range tops out below 13, the mission sits in your log until you have upgraded far enough. Nothing is lost by accepting it early and coming back.

Uncaged rewards

Completing Uncaged pays out:

6 John Harrison shards

1,500 Dilithium

32 five-minute repair speed ups

The shards are the reason to run this one. John Harrison is the alias Khan used in Starfleet, and this mission is the first of several in the arc that pay in his shards, so finishing Uncaged is the first step toward recruiting him. Clearing the mission also opens the next part of the Augments chain.

The repair speed ups are worth more than they look at this point in the game, since the two Starfleet fights in the middle of the mission will leave your hull damaged and the queue for repairs is the usual bottleneck early on.

Tips

Bank 2,000 Tritanium before you start. That single objective is the most gemeinsame place players get stuck, and it is entirely a stockpiling problem rather than a combat one.

Plan for two fights at roughly 12,765 strength, not one. They are the same target strength, and they come close enough together that you will likely go into the second one already damaged. Repair between them if you can, and keep some of the mission’s own speed ups in reserve for the trip back out.

Check your warp range before committing to the run. Warp 13 is the number to plan around, and it is the only hard gate in the mission.

Uncaged ist Augments Teil 1 in Star Trek Fleet Command.
