Pickup and completion both sit at warp 1, so nothing about it requires travel planning. You walk away with 2,200 Dilithium and a Jabilo M’Benga officer shard, and the clear opens the next rung of the Combat Training ladder.

Combat Training 17: Rookie objectives

The whole mission is one line:

Defeat 2 hostiles of level 17 or higher.

Read the “or higher” carefully, because it decides how fast this goes. Anything above level 17 ticks the counter, so there is no reason to go looking for exact level 17 spawns. Whatever grade you were already farming counts as long as it clears the floor. No system is attached to the objective, nothing splits partway through, and no dialogue choice changes the tasks or the payout.

The story framing is a skills check against escalating grades of hostile enemies. Rookie at 17 is one step on that ladder, and all it measures is whether your ship and crew can take two fights at that grade without stumbling.

Wo und welcher Warp

Warp 1 covers both ends, the lowest number the game ever asks for. No warp research and no range upgrade stands between you and this one. It also runs as a neutral mission, so Fraktionsruf stays untouched no matter whose space you do the killing in.

This is an auto link continuation, which means it arrives from the part before it rather than sitting somewhere waiting to be collected. There is no mission giver to fly to. Combat Training 16: Veteran comes immediately before it and Combat Training 17: Soldier follows.

With no fixed destination, convenience decides where you go. Any system with a level 17 or higher hostile spawn will do, and staying near your station keeps the repair trip short if a fight turns on you.

Combat Training 17: Rookie rewards

Belohnung

Amount

Dilithium

2,200

Jabilo M’Benga shard

1

The Dilithium is the practical half. It feeds officer promotion and the upgrades that stall the moment you run dry, and 2,200 for two hostile kills at warp 1 is a decent rate this early.

The single officer shard is the part worth paying attention to. One shard on its own does nothing, but shards only ever arrive a few at a time, and Missionen like this are one of the steadier ways to collect them without spending anything. Running the Combat Training chain in order is how those singles add up into an officer you can actually crew.

Finishing the mission also opens the next part of the chain, which is the main reason to clear these rather than leave them parked in your mission log.

Tips

Take a ship that beats a level 17 hostile comfortably instead of one that barely survives. Two kills is two chances to lose hull, and sitting through a repair timer costs more time than the mission earns. If you are right on the line, run a ship upgrade first and come back to it.

Higher level hostiles count, so the fastest route is usually to keep grinding whatever tier you were already on. Anyone well past level 17 clears this during a normal resource run without changing targets, which turns it into a free payout attached to work already in progress.

There is nothing to prepare beyond that. No donations, no stockpile, no warp research, no flight time. The mission does not expire and the rewards do not shrink, so if two fights at that grade feels like a stretch today, come back after your next round of upgrades and take it in one pass.

Combat Training 17: Rookie in STFC: defeat 2 hostiles of level 17 or higher at warp 1 for 2,200 Dilithium and a Jabilo M’Benga officer shard.

[169
404
post-21130","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-missions","tag-combat-training-missions
["GET
