The shard count stays at two.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_level_16_set\"><\/span>The level 16 set<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Rookie step, Combat Training 16: Rookie, asks for 2 kills of level 16 or higher and pays 1,600 Dilithium and 1 Zahra shard. With this Soldier step, that is 4,000 Dilithium and 3 Zahra shards before the Veteran step adds its own reward.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tips\"><\/span>Tips<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Fold the kills into your normal hunting. Eight kills of level 16 or higher is a short session for a ship at that level, and nothing ties them to one system.<\/p>\n<p>Zahra shards come only from the level 16 steps in this stretch of the series. The Rookie and Soldier steps give three between them, so if you want Zahra, level 16 is where to collect.<\/p>\n<p>Spend the Officer XP on your main crew.
