William T. Riker is an epic Command officer who pulls in the most TNG crew<\/a> from Federation space. He is built around one job: stacking weapon damage against armada targets and F\u00f6deration<\/a> enemies. If you run armadas or grind Federation hostiles, he earns a seat fast.<\/p>\n

He sits with the rest of the Next Generation bridge crew, so his synergy bonuses light up when you pair him with names like Picard, Data, and Worf<\/a>. That makes him a natural anchor for a TNG-themed armada or Federation farming crew rather than a general-purpose pick.<\/p>\n

This guide covers his abilities, his character traits and their officer XP costs, shard costs by rank, where he fits, and which Offiziere<\/a> boost him.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Star Trek background<\/span><\/h2>\n

In Star Trek: The Next Generation, William Thomas Riker is the first officer of the USS Enterprise-D, holding the rank of commander. Jean-Luc Picard<\/a> nicknamed him “Number One” soon after they met, and the name stuck. Read him as a specialist. On the right ship against the right enemy he piles on damage every round. Against non-Federation targets in regular PvP, his officer ability does nothing, so plan his crew around the content he is good at.<\/p>\n

As a Command officer, his strongest seat is the captain chair, where Vibrant Authority applies. The captain slot is also where his class synergy weighs in, so the officers you set beside him change how much extra damage the seat returns. Keep that in mind when you decide whether he captains or rides the bridge for a given fight.<\/p>\n

Captain ability: Vibrant Authority<\/h3>\n

As captain, Riker increases weapon damage against armada targets by 100% every round, and that bonus is cumulative. The longer the armada fight runs, the more damage stacks up, which suits drawn-out armada battles where rounds pile on. The 100% figure is the rank-1 value as of the latest Daten<\/a>; the bonus grows as you promote him, but the higher-rank numbers in the raw data are not reliable enough to publish as a clean table, so treat the per-round stacking as the thing that matters.<\/p>\n

Officer ability: The Icarus Factor<\/h3>\n

Stack the captain maneuver and the officer ability together against a Federation armada and Riker becomes a heavy damage seat for that specific fight.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Character traits<\/span><\/h2>\n

Riker unlocks three character traits in order, and each one has to be completed before the next opens. The officer XP costs per level are below. Charming is the long pole: its later levels climb steeply, ending at a 107,000 XP final level, so budget officer XP if you plan to max it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

<\/span>Where he shines<\/span><\/h2>\n

Riker has a few clear homes. Use him as captain in armadas, where the cumulative per-round damage bonus rewards the long fights those battles tend to be. Put him on the bridge against Federation hostiles when you are grinding Federation reputation or chasing Federation hostile objectives, since The Icarus Factor adds flat weapon damage there. And lean on him for Federation armadas specifically, where both abilities point at the same target at once.<\/p>\n

The armada use deserves a closer look. Because Vibrant Authority adds its bonus every round and the bonus carries over, the payoff grows with fight length. Armadas usually run several rounds, so by the later rounds Riker is contributing far more weapon damage than he did at the start. Shorter fights give the stacking less time to build, which is part of why he reads as an armada officer first.<\/p>\n

Outside those situations his value drops off. He is a strong answer to a narrow set of content rather than a flexible officer you keep on every crew.<\/p>\n

Riker is an epic<\/a> officer, so he comes from shards rather than a simple purchase. Promoting him from recruitment through rank 5 takes 1,500 shards in total. The per-rank shard costs are 100, 100, 200, 300, and 800. Shard sources rotate, so check the current event and faction store availability in your game rather than counting on any single source that may have changed.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Synergies<\/span><\/h2>\n

Riker carries class synergy of Command 10%, Engineering 20%, and Wissenschaft<\/a> 20%, so the captain seat picks up the most when you pair him with Engineering and Science officers around it.<\/p>\n
